This instrument is currently not in good playing condition. We have done some work on it over the past ten years or so, but the owner has other interesets and doesn't play it much. We will be visiting it soon to have a closer look. We will take more photos and some sound samples while we are there and we will be posting them soon.

This instrument was built by Matthew Redsell and was his personal instrument for ?? years before he sold it to the current owner. Although the instrument was completely playable and probably moreso than most, he never actually completed it for sale.

The soundboard rose was not installed [below] and he did not put his name on the nameboard [right]. The owner has documents and correspondence which establish provenance which will be included with the instrument.

The keywell is papered in Flemish 'seahorse' design papers, the lid in tan Flemish ashgrain paper and the trim and soundboard surround in a traditional Flemish border design.

Jacks are of beechwood with holly tongues and quilled in Delrin (?). Jacksprings are (nylon monofiliment? steel?).

[right] Jacks for the two 8' ranks and the 4', showing dogleg.

[below] Jacks for the nasale showing also the tapered tuning pins.
