CLAVIERS BAROQUES -- making a loop for a harpsichord string, also works for clavichords and fortepianos

To make a loop for a harpsichord, clavichord or fortepiano string you will need:

• some replacement wire (determining the correct replacement wire has its own "how to" page, but for now we will assume that you are provided with wire of the correct diameter and sufficient length)
• a tuning hammer with a hook, or you can substitute a piece of dowel with a cup-hook screwed into the end.
• pair of small wire cutters ( not necessary, but useful)
• a wire brake or some other means of holding the wire steady. A friend will do, if you don't have a wire brake (see also below).

It is a good idea to have these all close to you before you start as once you get started you will have a very limited reach. If you have a friend within earshot, s/he may come in handy, too.
